Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is Content ID & More?
Content ID & More is BeatStars’ user-generated content monetization program. It houses three different copyright management systems (YouTube, Meta, and TikTok) and allows users to claim and monetize their content on these platforms.

How does Content ID & More work?
When you attach Content ID & More to any new track uploads on BeatStars, our system will scan videos uploaded to YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram to see if they contain uses of your track. If a match is found, you will begin to automatically monetize it.

Who can use Content ID & More?
Content ID & More is available to all Professional plan members.

What tracks are eligible for Content ID?
Tracks submitted to Content ID & More must adhere to the Criteria:

  • Only Beats and Beats with Hooks tracks are eligible for submission. Full songs are not accepted.
  • Your track must not contain purely ambient sounds, meditative sounds, or spoken words.
  • Your track title must not contain emojis, discount offers, generic genres, social media handles, "type beat" identifiers, or collaborative credits like featured artists or other producers. What is the difference between Beat ID and Content ID & More?
Beat ID and Content ID & More are both copyright protection tools for tracking the usage of your music, but they differ in monetization and coverage. Content ID & More, which only scans YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram, automatically monetizes your music when a match is found. In contrast, Beat ID scans over 25+ social platforms and provides comprehensive reporting on usage, but does not automatically monetize your music; you must reach out to content creators to ensure proper licensing for monetization.

How does Content ID & More determine how much you actually get paid?
With Content ID, YouTube is able to run ads on videos that use your content. The revenue generated from these ads is then shared with you. The amount you get paid depends on factors like the number of views, ad engagement, and the type of ads displayed. TikTok Fingerprinting enables you to protect your copyrighted content on its platform by allowing you to monetize whenever a TikTok video is created using your content. You will receive a portion of TikTok's ad revenue, calculated based on the proportion of videos created that utilize your content. Meta Fingerprinting allows you to identify and monetize any uses of your copyrighted content uploaded to Facebook and Instagram through ads. With Meta Fingerprinting, you will receive a portion of Meta's ad revenue, calculated based on the proportion of streams that utilize your content.

Does BeatStars take a percentage of my earnings from Content ID & More?
