How does Youtube Content ID work with BeatStars Publishing?

Youtube’s Content Management System or CMS is considered the backend of the platform. It is within this system where sound recordings are onboarded and used to scan the site for use of the song within videos uploaded by all Youtubers. Content ID is constantly running because over 720,000 hours of content is uploaded to Youtube daily.

When songs are onboarded via BeatStars' Publishing portal, they also go through the process of being onboarded to Sony’s Publishing CMS on Youtube. These songs are scanned, as long as the song recording exists, and we are allowed to claim ownership from that point forward.

  • Thank You,

I really love how you guys went into detail on how this goes through Sony, as well as BeatStars.

  • Hi Jamil,

I have a few questions about this Content ID feature.

1-From what you explained before, Beatstars sends the tracks we choose on Beatstars' portal to Sony/ATV so that they take care of managing these content in Youtube for us, am I correct?

2-From point (1), will I get a copyright claim from Sony ATV on my own channel for the selected tracks? If so what should I do? Can it jeopardize the existence of my Youtube channel? How would this interfere with the Youtube side of monetizing of these videos?
