Overview
The BeatStars connector for Claude lets you discover and preview beats using natural language. Simply describe what you're looking for, and Claude will search BeatStars' catalogue to find matching beats.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Before you begin, make sure you've connected the BeatStars connector:
Step-by-step Guide
- Copy the MCP link https://mcp.beatstars.com/mcp
- Open up Claude on your web browser
- Navigate to Settings > Connectors > Click “Add” > Click “Add custom connector”
- Enter the name “BeatStars” in the name field
- For remote MCP server URL field, paste in https://mcp.beatstars.com/mcp
- Click "Add"
- Click Connect
- Close the settings window and begin prompting for the type of beat you want.
How to Search for Beats
Describe the type of beat you want in your own words. You can search by:
- Artist style: "Show me some Drake type beats"
- Mood: "Find me aggressive trap beats"
- Genre: "I need melodic hip hop instrumentals"
- Multiple criteria: "Dark melodic piano beats with a slow, moody feel"
The BeatStars connector will return up to 5 beat results that match your search, shown directly in the conversation.
Understanding the Results
Each beat card displays:
- Beat title and producer name
- Thumbnail image
- Play button for audio preview
Results are ranked by relevance to your search query.
Previewing Beats
To preview a beat:
- Hover over (or tap on mobile) the beat's thumbnail
- Click the play button that appears
- The beat will play a 60-second preview
- A progress indicator shows how much of the preview has played
- Click the pause button to stop playback
IMPORTANT NOTE: Only one beat can play at a time. Starting a new preview will automatically stop the current one.
Viewing Beat Details
To see full licensing options and download the beat:
- Click anywhere on the beat card (outside the play button)
- The beat's BeatStars page will open in a new tab
- You can license and download the beat directly from BeatStars
Exploring More Results
If you see "See more" with an "Open in BeatStars" link at the bottom of your results, this means additional beats match your search. Click the link to view the full search results on BeatStars.
What to Do If No Results Appear
If your search returns no results, try:
- Using different keywords or artist names
- Broadening your search criteria
- Clicking "Browse all beats on BeatStars" to explore the full catalogue
