How To Pre-set Your Track Metadata For Future Uploads Using Track Preferences

This article applies to:

  • Beat Sellers
    • Professional Plan
    • Growth Plan
    • Starter Plan

Overview

In this article, you will learn how to pre-set all of your tracks' metadata for your future uploads using track preferences. Presetting your track metadata saves time when uploading beats and ensures your tracks use consistent tags, genres, descriptions, and pricing. Once configured, these defaults will automatically apply to all future uploads, helping you publish tracks faster and keep your catalogue organised. Please see the instructions below.

Step-by-step Guide:

  1. Log in to your BeatStars Account.

  2. Navigate to the "Content > Tracks" section of your Studio.

  3. Click on the "Track Preferences" button near the top right of the page.

  4. In the "Default Metadata" section, you can pre-set all of your tracks' metadata for future uploads. Use the "Tags", "Genre", "Moods", "Instruments", "Description", "Track release", and "Track visibility" fields to pre-set the metadata for your future uploads as desired.

Alternatively, you can toggle on the AI autofill button to enable AI to preset the selected fields for you.

IMPORTANT NOTE (AI-generated tags coming soon)

  5. You can use the "Voice tags" section to upload and edit your voice tags for your tracks.

  6. Use the "Monetization" section to choose which active licenses you want to enable for future uploads and set the prices, as well as choose if you'd like to enable free downloads for your future uploads.

  7. If you enable free downloads, you can also choose to allow commercial use, which gives your free downloaders a non-exclusive license to use the track commercially.

This helps protect your rights and secure compensation when your tracks are used, as they must split the master and publishing royalties with you.

    IMPORTANT NOTES:
    - For standard free downloads, you can amend the free download settings to select which exchange you are looking for (email or a social follow) and which files to provide.

    - If you allow commercial use, then downloaders must provide a name and email address to generate the license under the "Downloader needs to" section.

    - Default at 50%, you can adjust the Master & Publishing Royalty % and expand the terms of the non-exclusive commercial use license under "View advanced terms".

  8. Click the "Save changes" button when finished.

Troubleshooting:

My presets didn’t apply to my upload

  • Make sure you saved your Track Preferences.

  • Presets only apply to new uploads, not existing tracks.

I want different metadata for one track

  • You can edit metadata during the upload process or later in the Track Editor.
