How Do I Upload Tracks?

This article applies to:

  • Beat Sellers
    • Professional Plan
    • Growth Plan
    • Starter Plan

Overview

In this article, you will learn how to upload a track on the BeatStars Marketplace to begin selling your beats. Please review the following instructions.

Step-by-step Guide:

  1. Go to the Tracks section of your BeatStars Studio: https://studio.beatstars.com/content/tracks/uploaded

  2. Click the "Create Track" button near the top right of the page, or you may simply drag and drop up to a maximum of four files for your upload (for example, a .wav file, an .mp3 file, track artwork, and a .zip file containing your track stems) directly on the window here:

    https://studio.beatstars.com/content/tracks/uploaded

IMPORTANT NOTE: Stem uploads are only available for accounts on the Growth Plan or Professional Plan. If you'd like to upgrade your account, you can do so by following the steps in this guide: How do I Upgrade my Account?

If you upload more than one of the same audio file type (.wav or .mp3 files), you will be prompted to select one file as your main untagged audio. The other file will be used as your upload's "tagged audio":

IMPORTANT NOTE: You do not need to upload a tagged "Preview File" as the system will automatically generate this for you. Once you upload an untagged WAV "Master File", once you publish the beat, the system will automatically generate a tagged Preview File and an untagged MP3 file.

  3. From here, your files will automatically begin uploading in the relevant fields. If you have set up your track preferences, our AI will automatically fill out your upload's title and description for you. If you would like to generate a new title and description, you may use the "Regenerate" button:

Additionally, if you use the "Autofill metadata" button, our AI will fill in the remaining metadata, such as BPM, Instruments, Genres, Moods, and Key for you as well.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You will need to type in tags for your track, as this will not be autofilled.

You can also edit this information directly within the track form to your liking.

  4. Set your track visibility (Public, Private, or Unlisted).
Private: Your track will only be visible to you.
Public: Your track will be visible to everyone on the Marketplace and your Pro Page.
Unlisted: Your track will be visible only to those you send the link to.

You can also schedule a future release date for the track or leave the "Release Date" section as-is if you want your track to be published immediately.

  5. Set your upload's track type by selecting the "Track Type" drop-down menu.

  6. If your uploaded audio contains loops and or samples, you may declare them in the "Loops and Samples" section of the upload by selecting the "This track contains 3rd Party Loops and/or samples" box.

  7. In the Monetization section, you can select/deselect which of your active licenses you want to sell for this upload, and edit the license prices. By using the "revert button," you can reset your license to its original price. You can also enable the free download option and choose to include your track for your active bulk discounts.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you do not have the required files uploaded for a license you have enabled, that license will be disabled. Once the required files are uploaded, the license will enable itself automatically.

By clicking the gear icon next to "Enable free download", you can view and set up your free download options:

  8. In the "Extra Services" section, you may choose to boost your track for a one-time fee of $15 on the BeatStars Marketplace. If you do so, the campaign will run for three days with a promote bid of $3 and a $5 daily budget. For more information, please see the following: How Does Bidding Work On Promote?

  9. If you worked with anyone else on the track, you can enter your collaborators by clicking the "+ Add collaborator" button in the "Collaborators" section.

You can set the profit share, which will split the earnings made from sales on BeatStars, and also set your collaborators' Publishing share. You can also select suggested collaborators under the "Suggestions" text. Your suggested collaborators will be other accounts with which you have previously collaborated.

A maximum of three suggested collaborators will be shown at a time. Please note that each time a new collaborator is added, the shares will automatically be updated so that each collaborator has an equal percentage split.

  10. Click the "Publish track" button when finished.
