How Can I Use My Custom Domain Name with My Pro Page?

This article applies to:

  • Beat Sellers
    • Professional Plan

Overview

In this article, you'll learn how to connect your custom domain to your Pro Page.  You simply need to locate the section where you manage DNS settings (sometimes called "DNS Management", "Zone Editor", or "Manage DNS").

IMPORTANT NOTE:

  • Every domain registrar's layout looks different, but the DNS records you need to create or update are exactly the same.

  • Please feel free to contact your domain registrar's support team, so they can help you configure your domain for use with a BeatStars Pro Page.

Step-by-Step Guide:

1. Log in to Your Domain Provider

  • Sign in to your domain registrar account
  • Go to DNS Management for the domain you want to connect.

2. Create or Update the CNAME Record

Click Add to create a new DNS record.

Enter the following values:

  • Type:  CNAME
  • Host:  www
  • Point to:  propage.beatstars.com

If you receive "An unexpected error occurred." during this step, this error usually occurs when users already have an existing "CNAME" with "www" as the host.  If this is the case, you will need to edit that one instead of creating a new one.

Edit the existing "CNAME" record and update it to point to propage.beatstars.com.

3. Create the A Record

Click Add again to create an A Record with the information below.

  • Type: A
  • Host:  @
  • Points To:  52.206.159.80

This connects your root domain (example:  yourdomain.com) to your Pro Page.

4. Remove Conflicting Records

To prevent connection issues, make sure the following are removed:

  • Delete any domain forwarding.
If your domain is set to "Forward" or "Redirect", delete that forwarding rule.
  • Delete old A Records with @ Host.
If you already have an A Record with @ Host, delete it unless it matches the IP address above.
  • Remove AAAA Records.
You do not need an AAAA Record.  Delete any existing AAAA record in your DNS settings.

You may need to refresh the page before deleting old records.

5. Add Your Domain Inside BeatStars

Once your DNS records are set:

  • Go to Edit Pro Page in your BeatStars account.
  • Click on Domain section.
  • Enter your domain name in the Domain Name field.  Do not include http:// or www. before your entry, please only your actual domain name.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • After following these instructions, it can take a few business days to apply the SSL certificate.
  • Your default URL based on your username followed by "username.beatstars.com" should still be secure in the meantime.
