How often will I be paid royalties by BeatStars Publishing?

What kinds of royalties do you collect, and what percentages will I earn from each?
Here’s how BeatStars Publishing collects royalties on your behalf.
- Mechanicals: 80% (Writer) / 20% (Publisher)
- Writer’s Performance: 100% (Writer) / 0% (Publisher)
- Publisher’s Performance: 60% (Writer) / 40% (Publisher)
- Syncs: 80% (Writer) / 20% (Publisher)
- Syncs sourced by BeatStars Publishing/Sony Music Publishing (BS PUB/SMP): 65% (Writer) / 35% (Publisher)
Additionally, most Performance Rights Organizations (PROs) split performance royalties between the Writer and Publisher. This means that your PRO will collect the writer's share of the performance royalties, while BeatStars/Sony Music Publishing will collect the publisher's share.
Both your PRO and BeatStars/Sony Music Publishing will always collect 100% of your ownership share, but how these royalties are divided is determined by the terms of our agreement.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Our administration claim does not impact the fact that you retain 100% ownership of your compositions under our Publishing Admin deal.
How long is the term of the deal?
1-year, which shall automatically be extended for additional one (1) year periods thereafter unless terminated by either party by written notice no less than thirty days (30) days prior to the end of the then-current term.
How long is the retention period?
Publisher and its licensees shall retain all rights under this Agreement for one (1) year post-termination date (“Retention Period”). Publisher and its licensees shall have the sole and exclusive right to collect, for a period of one (1) year following the expiration of the Retention Period in the United States, and for a period of eighteen (18) months in all parts of the Territory outside the United States, all monies earned during the Term and Retention Period throughout the Territory
What is the collection period?
One (1) year following the expiration of the Term in the U.S., Eighteen (18) months ex-U.S.; all monies earned during the Term throughout the Territory.
