Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I find my tax statement?

You can access it through this link: https://studio.beatstars.com/finances/payment-accounts
Why didn't I receive my tax statement?

Tax statements are only issued to users who received payouts through their BeatStars Wallet during the past year. If no payouts were made, no statement is generated.

Also, please note that BeatStars does not issue 1042 or 1099 forms for beat sales. These transactions occur directly between buyer and seller, without funds passing through the BeatStars Wallet.
What is a W-9 form?

A W-9 form is an IRS (Internal Revenue Service) tax form that is used to report payments, confirm a person’s name, address, and taxpayer identification number (TIN) for employment or other income-generating purposes.  This form acts as an agreement that you, as a freelancer, are responsible for withholding taxes from your income.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please note that a valid TIN/FTIN number is mandatory.

What is a W-8 form?

A W-8 is a form required by the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) that foreign individuals and businesses must file to verify their country of residence for tax purposes.  The W-8 form is required to be used by non-resident aliens or by foreign business entities who perform work and/or generate income in the U.S.

If you are a legal citizen of the United States, you will need to fill out the W-9 form.  The W-8 tax form is only used by foreign persons or entities certifying their foreign status for tax purposes in the U.S.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please note that a valid TIN/FTIN number is mandatory.
