Getting started with Projects: Create your first project and upload files

    Overview

    Projects are the central workspace in BeatStars for organising your audio files, artwork, contracts, and creative assets. In this article, you’ll learn how to create your first project and upload files so you can manage your work in one place.

    Important note

    All BeatStars users can create projects, but storage allowances vary by plan. Free users have 2GB of total storage; paid plans range from 5GB on Starter up to 25GB on Professional, with unlimited storage on the Projects Plan. Each file you upload counts toward your storage allowance.

    Step-by-Step Guide

    1. From your Projects section, click the + New Project button. You can also click the + New button from the left-side navigation.

      Note: You can add a title to your project by clicking on the project name (defaults to "New Project 1, 2, 3....")

    2. Upload files to your project using one of the following methods:

      • Drag and drop: Drag files or folders from your device directly onto the project screen.
      • Browse your device: Click the Add Folders/Files button and select files from your device storage.
      • Import from cloud storage: Connect Dropbox or Google Drive to import files directly. You’ll be prompted to sign in to your chosen service.
      Important note

      BeatStars Projects supports a wide range of file types, including audio files (.wav, .mp3, .flac, .m4a, .aac, .aif, .aiff, .ogg), images (.jpeg, .jpg, .png), documents (.pdf, .docx, .txt, .csv, .midi), DAW project files (.flp, .logicx, .als, .ptx, .cpr, .rpp, .band), and archives (.zip, .rar). Video files are not yet supported.

    3. Monitor your upload progress. A progress indicator in the bottom right shows the status of each file. You can continue working on your project while your files are uploading. 

    4. Optional: Customize your project by selecting the page tab, which opens the right-side panel. From there, you can:

      • Update project/page title 
      • Adjust access settings (see share article)
      • Add a project image using a JPEG or PNG file
      • Apply a color theme, plus more...
