This article applies to:

  • Beat Buyers
  • Beat Sellers

Overview

This article provides guidance on how to identify and report fraudulent phishing attempts, such as unauthorised messages claiming to represent BeatStars and/or any requests for personal data or sharing links outside of https://www.beatstars.com.

IMPORTANT NOTE: BeatStars will never request your payment information, login credentials, or any other sensitive personal information via:

* Messaging platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, X, Discord or SMS.
* Direct messages on the BeatStars Platform.
* Emails that are not from an official BeatStars domain (@beatstars.com).
* Social media messages from unofficial accounts.
* Fake websites impersonating BeatStars.

Always verify the authenticity of messages and avoid clicking on suspicious links. Do not hesitate to alert our Support team of any suspicious messages requesting personal information through any form of communication.

Recognising Phishing Attempts
If you receive a suspicious message via WhatsApp, direct message on BeatStars, email, or any other platform claiming to be from BeatStars, it is likely a fraudulent phishing attempt designed to obtain your personal information.

Be Aware of these Common Signs of Phishing Scams:
* Unsolicited messages asking for personal, financial, or login details.
* Messages urging immediate action, such as claiming your account will be suspended.
* Poor grammar, typos, or unusual formatting.
* Links leading to unfamiliar or slightly altered websites (e.g., "beatstars-secure.com" instead of "beatstars.com").
* Offers that seem too good to be true, such as fake promotions or cash prizes.

Steps to Protect Your Information

Do Not Interact:

    • Avoid interaction, do not reply to the message, click on links, or open any attachments.
    • Do not provide any personal or account information, especially on any linked websites.

Report the Phishing Attempt:

      1. If on WhatsApp:
        • Open the chat with the sender.
        • Tap the contact's name or number at the top of the screen.
        • Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap "Report".
        • Choose whether to block the sender or exit the group and delete the chat.
        • Tap "Report" to confirm.
      2. If on BeatStars:
        • Take a screenshot of the suspicious message.

        • Do not engage with the sender.

        • Report the user by contacting our support team at support@beatstars.com.

      3. If via Email:
        • Do not click any links or download attachments.

        • Screenshot the email with the sender information and send it to support@beatstars.com with the subject "Phishing Attempt Report".

        • Mark the email as spam to prevent future messages.

Secure Your Accounts

      1. If you provided any sensitive information, such as login credentials:
        • Immediately change your password on BeatStars.
        • Update passwords for any other accounts where you used the same credentials.
      2. If you provided any financial information, such as banking details:
        • Immediately contact your financial institution to alert them of the fraud attempt.
